A Message from:
Dear Legacy Runners and Friends,
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for standing with us. Your support of Ahmaud’s Legacy continues to build hope for a future generation of young men. Because of you, what began in tragedy is now transforming lives and shaping the future of our world. I cannot say thank you enough. We truly could not do this without you.
Your generosity has directly supported this year’s Ahmaud Arbery Youth Leadership Program, empowering young leaders to grow in confidence, service, and purpose. Our first summit focused on Social Justice and how we can be leaders for good and positive change in our world.
“When I was at cross-country practice, I was given the opportunity to lead on my own as a captain and I was able to lead my team through the workout and stretching as well. It felt really good to be recognized as leader.”
– Youth Leadership Program Participant
Because of you, stories like this continue to unfold every day. Thank you for helping us honor Ahmaud’s life by investing in the next generation of leaders.
With gratitude,
Wanda Cooper-Jones

A Valuable Investment
"The most valuable gift I have received from this scholarship is time. Instead of needing to work extra hours, I can dedicate my efforts to learning and growing as a theatre practitioner. This support has been instrumental in focusing on my passion and advancing my skills."

Mental Health Moment: Positive Self-Talk
Mental health is fundamental to a fulfilling life; it influences how we think, feel, and act, and it affects our ability to handle stress and relate to others. Prioritizing your mental well-being is not selfish, but a necessary practice that enables you to show up as your best self for your family, your community, and yourself.
Your words have power. Speak to yourself with kindness and encouragement.
Positive self-talk helps build confidence, focus, and emotional well-being.
Replace “I can’t do this” with “I’m learning to do this.” This simple linguistic shift moves you from a feeling of permanent limitation to a mindset of growth and potential. Recognizing that every challenge is an opportunity to learn relieves pressure and encourages you to take the next manageable step forward.
Instead of “I failed,” try “I grew from this experience.” Reframing mistakes as lessons takes the sting out of disappointment and stops you from dwelling on perceived shortcomings. By focusing on the knowledge gained, you strengthen your resilience and allow yourself to approach future challenges with renewed perspective and optimism.
End each day by naming one thing you’re proud of. This practice intentionally shifts your focus away from daily negatives and anchors your mind in achievement, no matter how small. Consistently acknowledging your strengths reinforces a positive self-image and builds a necessary habit of self-validation.

Health and Movement: The Power of Walking and Running
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 150 minutes of moderate physical activity per week, such as brisk walking or jogging, can significantly reduce the risk of heart disease, diabetes, and depression. Walking and running not only strengthen the body but also clear the mind and lift the spirit. Every step taken in Ahmaud’s name helps move our community forward.
